Kings Head – Joy MacLean, resident of King’s Head, Pictou County, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Eureka in 1928, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Elizabeth “Liz” (Bell) MacPherson. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Mel MacLean; her four children, Mel (Pam), Beth (Doug), Sherri (Mike), and Pam (David); and her four grandchildren, Kirsten, Cory, Chloe and Caleb; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Billy MacPherson. Joy was an intelligent and elegant lady who loved art, ceramics, books and flowers. She enjoyed fishing with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was always there for her family with a hug and a kiss and the best homemade turkey soup in the world, which was guaranteed to put a smile on any face. We will miss her gentle spirit and strength. We will always love her. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A private service will be held for the family at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, with Pastor Helen Christie officiating. Family flowers only please. Donations in Joy’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
