Ralph Mealing
Date de décès : 15 septembre 2014
Mealing, Ralph Arthur 1946 - 2014
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17th with his wife and daughter holding his hands.
He was born 68 years ago on his maternal grandparents’ farm in rural Saskatchewan where he spent his early years. Their love and care, along with that of his beloved mother Pearl (deceased) made him a very happy little boy. His aunts Elsie (deceased), Florence (deceased), and Evelyn, and uncles Arthur (deceased) and especially his uncle Donald (Verle) were a big part of his life.
When the family moved to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, he was joined by his brothers Henry (Donna), Lorne (Kathy), Clive (Linda) and a sister Dorothy (Harvey). Through the years his bond with his brothers has continued to grow and strengthen.
Ralph was an exceptional baseball pitcher and was scouted. In his teens he joined the Militia Medical Corp. In high school, he met his wife Connie. They shared a lifetime of memories for 49 years. Their children Tracey and Sean were born in Vancouver, B.C.
After the family moved to Peterborough, Ontario, Ralph continued as sales manager for a B.C. company. In 1980, he and Connie opened their first successful business, The Bushel Basket Bulk and Natural Foods. When they sold it and moved to Cobourg, Ontario in 1997 they took over the Cobourg Wine Cellar. Ralph’s strong work ethic, honesty, respect and enjoyment of his customers saw him make many friends within his business.
He met his final illness with courage and dignity. His love for his daughter Tracey and his adored granddaughter Emily gave him strength and happiness. The many people who called and visited were a constant source of enjoyment.
Ralph wished only a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Care or Shelter of Hope would be appreciated.
