Sammie Lovine Cook
It is with deep sadness that we must announce the peaceful passing of Sammie Lovine Cook, age 81, of Amherst. Sammie passed away at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax surrounded by her family on Monday, September 29, 2014.
Born in Saline County, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Bob and Freda (Tuttle) Lawrence.
Sammie was a strong, feisty caring and fun loving lady. No matter how tired, sick or busy she was she always had time for other people. She loved music, art and gardening, but mostly her family. She was a spiritual woman who loved Jesus and passed on that love to her children.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Fred, of Amherst; children Ann Clarkson, Halifax, Heather (Bruce) Maxwell, Rocky Hill, CT, Joy (Mike) McKay, Eaglesham, AB, Sam (Ellen), Cayuga, ON, Fred (Pam), Woodstock, NH, John (Amy), Lisbon, NH, Tammie (Christopher) Hayden, Hollis, NH; grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Adam, Meghan, Erinn, Ranon, Ryan, Samantha, Crystal, Deborah, Garret, Makenzie, Kaileigh, Caspian, and Tirian; great grandchildren, Rayne, Ayli, and James; sister Katherine Haga, and brother Donald, both of San Antonio, Texas.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place at Furlong~Jones Funeral Home on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 2 pm. Burial will take place at the Amherst Cemetery.
