The death occurred peacefully, with family at his side, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, October 13, 2014, of Brendan Reid, husband of the late Louise Reid (nee Carr), of Stanley Bridge, aged 85. Brendan was the father of Anne Berkholtz (Ivan), Barb Schulter (Tony), Garth Reid (Patty), Kay Wakelin (Tony) and Earl Reid (Joan); grandfather of Chris Berkholtz (Lisa), Sharlee Pardy (Keith); Colin Peters; Chris Gallant; Krista Rae Kastiro (Mark), Chad Wakelin (Dorothy); Kristen, Johanna and Matthew Reid; and great-grandfather of nine. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary McQuaid, Kay Hennessey, Aline and Doreen Reid; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Carr (Phyllis), Lorraine Carr, Alvin Gardiner (Bonnie), Jean Milne (John), Donna Carr and Norm Birkholtz; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his beloved wife, Louise, Brendan was predeceased by his parents, Walter and May (Cullen) Reid; and his brothers, Norbert and Father Walter Reid. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Hope River, on Friday, Oct. 17, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley.
