It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Bernard Edward 'Bernie' Conrod, 76, of New Waterford on Oct. 16, 2014 at home.
Born in Dartmouth, N.S., he was a son of the late Edward and Geraldine (Cooper) Conrod.
Bernie was a truck driver with Empire Transportation Ltd. for over 20 years. His favourite pastimes, other than being surrounded by family and friends, were having a cigarette and going to the Casino.
Surviving are daughters Jeanie (Vance) Clarke, Newfoundland, Bernadette Conrod, New Waterford; son Jim (Kristi Helmle, who was also Bernie's caregiver), New Waterford; sister, Barbara Conrod; grandchildren, Vicki and Danielle, Blake, Hope and Brett, Deionne, Cali and Couper; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Carter, Braeden, Adison and Summer, Carsen and Desiree.
Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by his wife, Muriel (Muise) Conrod; common-law spouse, Carmella (Fraser) Conrod; son, Danny and sister, Doris Johnson.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
