It is with great sadness that the family of Melinda Abbass, age 63, of Sydney, Cape Breton, announces her passing on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, surrounded by her family.
Melinda was the daughter of the late Abraham and Ebe Abbass.
She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Reid and Vanessa Reid; her brother, Blair Abbass and grandsons, Joseph and Preston.
She was predeceased by her brother, Lewon Joseph and her sister, Joanne.
Melinda was a devoted mother, sister and daughter who constantly gave of herself to her family. She was considered Sydney's "Singing Sweetheart" and had the voice of an angel that brought many to tears. Music continued to be her joy to the very end.
To the one who taught us love through love, and until the day that we’re together once more. We will love you always mama.
There will be a memorial service held at the former St Joseph’s Church on Cabot Street in Sydney on Friday, Oct. 24th at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
