Elmer Joseph Anderson, age 84 years, of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan and formerly of Cabri, Saskatchewan passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre. Elmer was born at the Shaunavon Union Hospital on January 16, 1930. He was a bachelor all his life. He shared his life equally between the home farm, his sibling’s homes and his professional life as a Laboratory and X-Ray Technician. He experienced hearing loss early in life. Elmer lived full and active amidst family, co-workers and friends. His varied interests kept him extremely busy; those being sightseeing, touring, car mechanics, woodworking, welding, horseback riding, photography, libraries, museums, nature studies, history, geography, and crosswords. He was a voracious reader with a fantastic memory, wanting to impart to others all his knowledge. As an example, he liked nothing better than to have someone with him on a trip so he could explain what they were seeing. As a medical technician Elmer’s work was respected and highly praised. He worked 35 years in Cabri and Pontiex, Saskatchewan, with a brief relieving in the hospitals of Shaunavon, Swift Current and Herbert, Saskatchewan. He especially loved and enjoyed his nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; participating in their activities whenever possible. Elmer was an intelligent, likeable and gentle man who will be missed.
He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Ruth Anderson, his eldest brother Arne, his youngest brother Mores and various aunts, uncles and cousins.
Elmer is mourned by his brother Lennart (Sheila) of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, his sister Ruth (Lionel) Davis of White Fox, Saskatchewan; his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and extended family.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from Salem Lutheran Church in Shaunavon with Pastor Joy Frenette officiating. The Eulogy was presented by Erick Anderson. Ushers were Randy Anderson and Larry Hughes. Interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Shaunavon. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
