Passed peacefully away on the morning of November 10, 2014, at the home of his daughter after a lengthy illness, Gordon Malcolm Bemister, aged 89 years. Predeceased by his parents, George and Harriett (nee Russell), by his brothers Rayfield, Rex and Thomas, by his sisters Helen and Alma, and by his infant son Gordon Jr. Leaving to mourn his wife of 66 years, Lillian (nee Jeans); his children: Donald (Rosemary, grandson Theodore Gordon, of Chapleau, Ontario), Christine and Paul; his sisters: Laura and Rhoda in Nova Scotia and Olga in Catalina; many nieces and nephews, and friends in Deep Bight where he spent many happy retirement years. In accordance with Gordon's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Committal service will be held at a future date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
