BECHAL – Cecile Age 88 years, passed away November 18, 2014 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Cecile was born in hospital at Lafleche on August 13, 1926. She was the oldest of four girls born to Ida and Arthur Carrier who lived on a farm near Glentworth. She was raised in the Summercove district near Mankota. In 1946, she married Ferdinand (Fred) Bechal and they farmed near Mankota and were blessed with five daughters. Upon retirement, they moved into Mankota until 2009 when Cecile, a widow since 1999 , moved to the Riverview Estates in Swift Current. Cecile was always happiest with family. It was not uncommon on Sundays after church for relatives and friends to descend on the Bechal farm. Everyone was welcome and no one went hungry. Cecile loved games. She was an excellent curler, bowler and never refused a game of cards. She loved the farm, working side by side with Fred, and was justly proud of her garden. An accomplished craftsperson, she filled her spare moments quilting and knitting. In later years she really enjoyed going to bingo with her sisters Henriette Perrault and Alda Ruest. She was predeceased by her husband Fred, her sister Yvonne and daughters Josephine and Lauretta, and grandson Lee Mahon. She is survived by her daughter Ida-Mae (Martin) Leek, grandchildren Phillip, Andrea (John) Duhan, Denise (James) Herauf, great-grandchildren Danielle, Tyler, Joselyn Duhan ; Allie, Brady, JJ Herauf ; daughter Judy (Norman) Packet, grandchildren Bob Mahon, Raylene Packet, Ashley (Tim) Huber, great-grandchildren , Rio, Kashina Mahon; Tolson, Armony Huber, and daughter Fay (Glen) Emms, grandchildren Cheryl (Darren) Fischer, Kerri (Steve) Auger, Kelley Emms, Dean Emms; great-grandchildren Sidney, Jaxon Fischer; Kacie Auger; Jesse, Nicholas Emms; sisters Alda Ruest and Henriette Perrault. A funeral mass was held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Albert’s Roman Catholic Church in Mankota with Father Hope Klupsey officiating. The interment took place at Mankota Cemetery, Mankota, SK. Donations in memory of Cecile may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
