Rosalie Amanda Hartigan
Age 85
Passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Roseway Hospital in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. Loved and missed very much by her three children: Mike (Brenda), Pat (Betty Reiter), Colleen (Ian) Buker; grandchildren: Chris (Carla Dean), Lisa (Brad) Brown, Tom (Kim) Goodman; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Coen Brown; brother, Norman (Jean) Swim; sisters, Betty Cox, and Fae Farrell; sister-in-law, Glady Swim, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Danny; sister, Lillian Benham, and brothers, Peter and Balfour Swim. Rosalie was the fifth of seven children born to the late Herbert and Elizabeth (nee Harlow) Swim on December 12, 1928 in Lockeport, Nova Scotia. She was a descendent of Sgt. William Harlow who came to America on the Mayflower. Rosalie was educated at Mount Saint Vincent Academy in Halifax before enrolling in Acadia University, in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. October 1st, 1949 she married Dan Hartigan and joined him in Halifax where her working life started at Simpsons. In the 1950’s they moved to Cape Breton leaving in December of 1962 with their three children moving to Calgary. In her later life Rosalie moved back to her hometown Lockeport, Nova Scotia. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Roseway Hospital for their compassionate and expert care of Rosalie during her time there. A Celebration of Rosalie’s Life was held in the Chapel of Eden Brook Funeral Home on Saturday, November 29. An additional service will be held in Lockeport at a later date.
