Passed peacefully away after a brief illness, at the Health Science Complex on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the age of 91 years, John R. Thorne, Sr. of Portugal Cove. Predeceased by his wife, Bella; daughter, Linda; brothers, Reginald and Henry; sisters, Mary and Alma. Leaving to mourn his family - Judy, Gerald (Valerie), Regina, Wayne, Suzanne and John, Jr.; 2 grandsons, Scott (Joanne) and Curtis (Keira) and very special great-granddaughter Sara Dan Dan; sisters in-law, Beulah Smart, Daisy Brown, and Mary Thorne; brother in-law, Clyde Brown; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Sunday, November 30 from 7-9 p.m. and Monday, December 1 from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Holy Rosary Church, Portugal Cove on Tuesday, December 2 at 10:00 a.m.; interment to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
