Donald Bills
It is with great sadness that the family of Donald A. Bills announce his passing on November 18, 2014, at the age of 93, in Grande Prairie, AB.
Don was born in Moose Jaw, SK, in 1921, to George “Dick” and Louise (Thomas) Bills. Don’s father passed away when Don was 4 and when his mother remarried, they settled on the Hannah farm at Marquis, SK. Don enjoyed farm life, especially the horses, and was a hard worker. Most of his schooling was in Moose Jaw, later attending Briercrest Bible College, joining the Air Force and then taking Business at the University of Saskatchewan.
While at Bible School, Don met a Briercrest girl, Marjorie Coward, and they were married at her family farm in 1943, celebrating their 71st Wedding Anniversary on November 13, 2014. They lived in Edmonton, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Red Deer, and then Calgary, until 2009 when they moved to Grande Prairie to be close to family. Don enjoyed golfing, curling, cross-country skiing and speed skating.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, his sister Betty Lou Hannah; his children: Shirley of Grande Prairie, Valerie (Jim) Jenner of Grande Prairie, and Ronald of Calgary. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lisa Larson, Melanie Jenner and Derek Jenner, and great-granddaughters, Olivia and Kaydence, all of Grande Prairie.
Don was predeceased by his parents, brothers Burdette and Robert Bills, sister Virginia Stewart and step-sister, Mabel Bonk.
Cremation has taken place and a family graveside service will take place in the spring.
