George Wilfred MacDonald, 88, of Williston House and formerly of Kings Road, Sydney, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Murdock and Margaret (MacNeil) MacDonald. He was a member of Sacred Heart and Lady of Fatima parishes. He enjoyed an active life, bowling, curling and walking. Wilfred had been employed for 43 years at Brookfield and subsequently, Scotsburn Dairies, retiring in the mid 1980s.
He is survived by his wife, the former Theresa Hickey, two daughters, Ursula (Bernie) Ashe, Karen (Terry) Mulock, both of Halifax, and a son Keith (Bonnie) MacDonald of Calgary, two grandsons, Drew and Sean, three granddaughters, Kate, Carly, and Layna, and two great-grandchildren, Vaida and Landon.
He was predeceased by a brother 'Buster' and four sisters, Mary Campbell, 'Babe' Boutilier, Bessie Rooking and Rita Akerman.
Visitation for the late Mr. MacDonald will be held today (Monday) from 2-5 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at St. Marguerite Bourgeouys parish with Rev. Bill Burke officiating with interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
