MCGINNIS, JAMES R. - James R. McGinnis (Jim) passed away on December 22, 2014 at Oromocto Public Hospital with a friend by his side. He was born May 20, 1935 in Bathurst and is survived by two brothers, their families and an extended family of countless friends in the Village of Gagetown. Jim lived in Bathurst, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Yellowknife before settling here in 1996. His professional life was as varied, from a nine year stint in the RCAF to being Head Bartender in The Andore Hotel in Toronto to representing Gagetown as an outstanding volunteer Town Crier. Art was his passion and Jim was proud of graduating at age 36 from UBC with a degree in Graphic Arts.
There will be no visitation as per Jim’s request and the community is invited to a Mass on December 29, 2014 at 11AM, St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, Gagetown, with Father A. Reyes as Celebrant. Following the service a reception will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Gagetown, 81 Tilley Road.
