HIGBY, Clyde William – 80, Villa Saint Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, formerly of Argyle Street, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2014 in the Villa. Born August 27, 1934 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Edward Pines and Ruby (Higby) Nickerson. Clyde worked aboard the Prince of Fundy, as well as at the cotton mill, having also worked as a fisherman and as a fish cutter at John’s Cove Fisheries. In his spare time, he enjoyed drawing, sport fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rita (Landry) Higby, as well as by sons, Farrell (Margie) Higby, Yarmouth and Clyde Higby (Jean Petitpas), Mayflower, and grandchildren, Farrell, Alyssa and Colton. Also surviving are sisters, Louise (Ben) Boucher, Winnipeg and Jeannie (Richard) Thibeau, Yarmouth, as well as a brother, Huey (Laura) Nickerson, Yarmouth. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Hilda Doucette. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 from the Salvation Army Community Church, Brunswick Street, Yarmouth, Capt. Melissa Mailman officiated. Spring interment will take place in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery, Yarmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clyde’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Parkinson’s Society of Nova Scotia.
