Date de décès : 30 décembre 2014
We regret to announce the passing of Joseph King, on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Harbour View Hospital, Sydney Mines.
Born in Florence on March 6, 1923, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Annie Mae (Carter) King.
He was a veteran of the Second World War, where he served overseas. Dody worked for over 30 years as a coal miner. In his spare time, he liked to fish, play cards, and spend time with Mary at their cabin in Long Island.
He is survived by sons, Joseph (Dorothy), Daniel (Maria), Kimberley (Louise) and daughter Lucinda (Norman MacNeil). He was the proud grandfather of Leeann, Lynelle, Shannon, Joshua, Adam, Jena, Elise, Matthew, Toni and Katie, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Dody also leaves behind a wonderful staff at Harbour View Veterans Wing. He was known for his quick wit, and never complained. He loved you all, and that love was generously returned. You were like family to him. Thank you.
Many thanks also to Dr. Michel McKeough, who took care of him over many years.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Mary Evangeline Jessome in 2009. He was the last surviving member of his family; predeceased by brothers, Clifford, David and Edward, and sisters, Margaret, Theresa and Marie.
Visitation for Joe 'Dody' King will be held in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, today (Friday, Jan. 2, 2015), from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place Saturday, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr.
