It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Clara (Sullivan) Dalton, of Sydney on Jan. 2, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Ingonish, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Clements) Brewer. She was a member of St. Theresa Church.
She is survived by her children, sons, Gordie, Billy, Patrick, Everett (Maureen); daughters, Sharon, Darlene (Eric Peters), Marlene (Terry McCallum), Janet (Tony Corbett), Lorraine (Lawrence Colbourne), a daughter-in-law Muriel (Michael Sullivan); and one sister, Doris Burke. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Her cat, Sammy, will miss her dearly. She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, 'Bill' William Sullivan, a son Michael, her second husband, Bernard Dalton, sisters, Loretta Stockley and Anna Newman.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, with Rev. James Oliver officiating. Interment will take place at New Calvary Cemetery, Whitney Pier.
