Cecilia McCuish, 96, of Red Islands passed away Jan. 3, 2015, at the Richmond Villa, St. Peters.
She was the last surviving member of her family, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born in Soldier’s Cove, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Campbell) Sutherland.
She was a devoted mother, who loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved a good joke, and loved to laugh.
She enjoyed Bingo, playing cards, quilting, knitting, music, and could be heard singing as she did her housework. Mom loved having company and visiting with a good cup of tea. She is survived by her four children, Mary Ann Groom, Grand Greve, George, St. Peters, Elizabeth (John) MacDonald, Halifax and Mary (Michael) Sutherland, Revelstoke, B.C.; 12 grandchildren, l9 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband John Dan McCuish and first husband Joe Campbell, brothers, Murdock, Dan, Lawrence, Leo, Angus, Arthur and half brothers, Donald and John, sisters, Margaret, Jessie, Martha, Mary Belle, half sister Jessie, and son-in-law Alfred Groom.
Resting in the River Bourgeois Funeral Parlor on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday at 2 p.m. from St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, St. Peters with Rev. Dennis Lamey presiding, burial in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Johnstown.
Memorial Donations may be made to Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Johnstown or a charity of choice.
