NIELSEN, SHIRLEY - At the Grand Falls General Hospital, January 6, 2015, Mrs. Shirley Nielsen of Grand Falls passed away at the age of 87 years. Born at Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1927, she was a daughter of the late William Stewart and Flora Nall. Mrs. Nielsen was an Associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Grand Falls Branch 21. She is survived by her daughter, Debra "Debbie" Bernier (Albeo "Titou") of Grand Falls, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Amy Dalley (Mark) and their children Alexander and Felix of Moncton, Thomas Bernier (Jessica Lajoie) and their children Brianna and Jayden of Moncton and Bradley of Grand Falls, one brother, Sandy Stewart of Vancouver, BC, three sisters, Bernice (Bunny) Kerns of Vernon, BC, Cathy Beall of Vancouver, BC and Bettylou Attig of Vernon, BC, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the family a long-time friend Robert Moreau, his daughter Lisa Moreau and her son Joshua; and his son Eric Moreau. She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Friday from 7 to 9 pm and Saturday from 9:30 am. A Liturgy of the Word celebration will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 10th at 11 am with Father Curtis Sappier officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Grand Falls. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will meet for prayers Friday evening at 7:30 pm.
