Brian Casey
Brian Douglas Casey, aged 74, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2014. He was living in Victoria, B.C at the time.
Born in Amherst, he was proud to achieve the highest levels of Army Cadets and Boy Scouts. He attended university at U.N.B. where he earned his Bachelor of Business degree.
He married Sharon Barker, literally the girl he grew up with across the street, and they had three children – Douglas, Lynn and Susan.
After graduation, Brian managed the Wentworth Motel and then the Capital Sales Furniture store in Amherst. In 1967 the family moved from Amherst to Moncton where he operated an auto business. In 1975 the family moved to Vancouver where he was involved with several other businesses. Sharon passed away in 1983 after a difficult battle with cancer.
Brian remarried several years later to Penny Antefav and they settled in Victoria, B.C. where they lived together happily for over twenty years. Sadly, Penny too passed away in November 2013 from cancer.
Brian loved the water and cherished his time sailing the Pacific on his sailboat with his family and friends. Brian’s three children all live in Vancouver and have each found success in their fields of endeavor. Doug is an IT Specialist; Lynn is a Business Development Consultant and Susan is a Registered Nurse, focusing on palliative care.
Big brother Brian will be missed by his two brothers Dan (Moncton) and Bill (Amherst), and many nephews and nieces as well.
A ceremony is planned in spring to celebrate Brian’s life where family will gather to spread his ashes on the waters of the Pacific where he loved to sail. On line condolences can be sent to billcasey45@hotmail.com and they will be forwarded to each member of Brian's family
