With heavy hearts we regret to announce the sudden passing of Patrick Aucoin on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alta.
Born in New Waterford, Pat was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth 'Lizzy Mae' (Deveaux) Aucoin.
Pat attended Mount Carmel School and at the age of 18 left New Waterford to join the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and returned home on occasion for visits.
He served at bases in Canada including Summerside, P.E.I.; Newport Corner, N.S.; Borden, Ont.; Gagetown, N.B.; Calgary, Alta. and in Alert, N.W.T. He also served overseas in Germany and Egypt. His final posting and highlight of his career was in Colorado Springs, U.S.A.
Following a lengthy career in the military, he retired in Calgary.
Pat is survived by his sister, Madeline Hiseler (Lindsay); brothers, Russell (Lorraine) and David (Susan); brothers-in-law, Danny MacKinnon and Martin Jurcina; nephews, nieces and other relatives in New Waterford and Cheticamp. Also, several close friends and co-workers he has met throughout his military career.
Besides his parents, Pat was predeceased by his stepfather, Charles Hache; sisters, Shirley, Patricia, Charlotte Jurcina and Rose MacKinnon.
At Pat's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford, at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Feral and Abandoned Cat Society, Cape Breton, or a charity of one's choice.
