It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle & friend: Robert (Bob) Ralph Parsons. Born on Churchill Avenue, Mount Pearl on September 11, 1943 and passed Friday, January 16, 2015 age 71 after a gallant battle with cancer. Passed before him are his parents Mary (Thompson) Parsons (1969) and Harold James (1972), his in-laws Arthur Power (1974) and Sarah (Sutton) Power (1983) his sisters Little Ruth, Betty Cowan, Gladys O'Rear and Marjorie (Collins- Roberts) (1998) and brother Doug (2011). Leaving to mourn his darling wife Hazel (Power) Parsons and daughters Beverly Tobin (Chris Thornhill), Janice Locke (Jim Locke) and Tanya Parsons Morris (Chester Morris) and his grandchildren: Jimmy Locke, Sarah and Jessica Tobin (their dad Derrick Tobin), Jonathon Locke, Ranaldo Morris, Danial Parsons, Olivia Morris, Baby Morris, Alanah Thornhill & Emma Thornhill. Leaving to mourn his siblings: brothers Harold (Georgina deceased), Tim (Betty) & George (Florence) and sister Ruth, sister in law Elsie (Doug deceased) and brothers-in-law Chesley Power (Anne deceased) and George Power (Mary), many wonderful nieces and nephews and special friends Craig & Anne Olford and Don & Judy Tilley. Thank you to a very special public health nurse Regina Guinchard who took care of him since March along with Sharon, Sandra & Elizabeth. A special thank you to sister-in-law Betty Parsons who kept our spirits high and checked in on dad daily. Thank you to Dr. Siddiqui and all the wonderful nurses and staff at the Cancer Clinic, HSC and St. Clares. The "candyman" has grown his wings and gone to heaven - dad loved to give out candies to everyone! Finally special mention must be made to our dear mother Hazel Parsons who has also nursed and cared for dad through his journey. Once a nurse always a nurse. Together in your vows, "for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health til death do you part." Visitation for 1 day at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Tuesday, January 20th from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Memorial Service from Barretts Chapel on Wednesday, January 21st at 11:00am. Interment to follow at a later date.
