ROWE
Beatrice Alice (nee Adams)
1920-2015. Passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on January 23rd. Predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Augustus Taylor Rowe, she is survived by her son David (Marian), daughter Jane (Tammy), grandchildren Christine (Graham) and Allan (Tara), niece Elaine (Chris) and nephew Clive (Jane), and numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews. Born in London, England Beatrice served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) during World War II, when she met and married Gus, who was serving in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment at the time. After supporting her husband through St. Mary's Medical School in London following the war, they settled in Carbonear, Newfoundland. While in Carbonear, Bea was an active volunteer with numerous causes including the Red Cross and the Carbonear Hospital. In 1972 the family moved to St John's where Bea became a realtor with Royal Trust. Following their retirements Bea and Gus moved to Toronto to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They wintered with family and friends in Barefoot Bay, Florida, and settled into their retirements with ease. Bea was an avid life long bridge player and until her final days enjoyed playing scrabble with distant friends and speedily completing the daily Sudoku. The family would like to thank the staff of the Central CCAC and the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care at Mount Sinai Hospital. The family would also like to extend heartfelt appreciation to her many caregivers, especially Gina, who provided tremendous support to her during the last months. As was Bea's wishes the family is honouring her privately. If so desired, donations can be made to one of Bea's favourite charities the Canadian Red Cross, the Canadian Cancer Society, or to a charity of choice.
