After a brief illness, the death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on January 27, 2015 of Mae Catherine Sherry of Charlottetown and formerly of Albany.
Born in 1921 in New Haven, she was the daughter of James and Sarah (Currie) Cavanaugh. She is predeceased by her husband Rowan (1991), daughter Rowena (Earle) Smith (2011), son Rudy (1963) and infant son Gerard (1957). Survived by children, Beverly (Parnell) Grant; Audrey (Richard) Gallant; Gloria (Alan) Paynter; Paula (Phillip) MacDonald, all of P.E.I., and Leigh (Marilee) Sherry of Brantford, ON. Also survived by 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; her sister, Stella (Lorne deceased) Sobey of Charlottetown, Ernest(Jean) Cavanaugh of Boston, MA, Leona (Albert) Adams and Roma (Jack) Naylor of Ontario. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Helen Murray and Patricia Sherry. Predeceased by sisters, Reta (Frances deceased) Murphy and Mary (Charles) Currie.
Resting at Kinkora Place, Kinkora. Visiting hours on Friday, January 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 31 at St. Peter's Church, Seven Mile Bay, with funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment at a later date.
Donations in Mae's memory may be made to St. Peter's Church Cemetery Fund, Seven Mile Bay or Canadian Cancer Society.
