It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edgar Gordon Newell on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Edgar and Marcella (MacKinnon) Newell.
Edgar is survived by his loving wife, Helen; daughter, April; son-in-law, Brett; and his best friend, his granddaughter, Emma Faye Newell. He is also survived by his brothers, James (Catherine) and Joseph, both of Sydney and by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday 11 a.m., with Archdeacon Brenda Drake officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the An Cala, Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
