Ches passed away peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital on Saturday January 31, 2015 after a short illness with cancer. Predeceased by Joyce, his loving wife of almost 60 years. Loving father of Greg (Maydon) and Sharon (Doug), and doting Grampie to Andrew, Sarah, Greg, Chris, Lindsey and Renata. Dear brother of Judy Taylor (Russ) of St. John?s Newfoundland and brother-in-law of Jack Palmer (Una) of Amherst, Nova Scotia. He will be sorely missed by all his nieces and extended family members and friends in Hamilton and the Maritimes. Ches was in excellent health throughout his life. As an avid walker and golfer, he was a constant presence at the King?s Forest G.C. He volunteered at numerous activities at Pioneer Memorial and was known throughout the church community for his many contributions of home baked bread. He received recognition for 41 years of work at Stelco without missing a single day due to sickness. Special thanks to all the medical staff at the Juravinski Cancer Clinic and Oncology ward for their exceptional care and compassion. Visitation at the MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East in Hamilton, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Pioneer Memorial United Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday February 5, 2015. Family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Pioneer Memorial United Church.
