With broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Allan passed away on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Joseph Agnew and Florence (Young) Furlong.
Raised by his aunt and uncle Rebecca and Billy Young of Meadows Road, Sydney Forks. He was employed at the Heavy Water Plant for 15 years and then Wes Pardy's Irving Garage. He was currently working for Municipal Ready Mix at the time of his passing.
Allan is survived by his loving wife an best friend of 43 years, Kathy (MacDonald) Agnew; his two sons, Allan (Tracey) and Stephen; two precious granddaughters, who he loved dearly, Megan and Melissa. He will be also missed by his four-legged friend, Baby.
Allan is also survived by his sisters, Joanne LaFontaine, Darlene Trump, Shirley Furlong and Lisa Young, all of Ontario; brother, Peter MacDonald (Florence), Sydney Mines; sisters-in-law, Heather (Kenny) MacLeod, Marlene (Deryck) Abbass, Teresa Agnew, all of Sydney, Florence's husband, Ray Furlong, as well as several nieces , nephews, and cousins.
Allan was predeceased by his brother, Joey Agnew, mother and father-in-law, Willie and Alice MacDonald and brother-in-law, Rollie LaFontaine.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
