John William McCoubrey, 53, of New London, Prince Edward Island, passed away on February 9, 2015, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. John was born in Montreal to William and Mary (nee Wright) McCoubrey. John will be greatly missed by his wife, Connie Goodine, and daughter, Marley; his parents and siblings Michael (Terri Lynn MacKay), Laurie (Phil Carr), Andrew (Cynthia Hyde) and Jane (Jay Casselman); his large extended family including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; the Goodine family; and his many, many friends. John was a talented artist, avid angler, and devoted father. After studying art, and travelling the country painting, John, with Connie, settled on PEI – the home of his paternal grandfather. John’s natural curiosity and genuine interest in others ensured he gathered friends wherever he lived and travelled. John’s family sends sincerest thanks to all his incredible friends in PEI and Halifax who have provided love and support to John, Connie and Marley over the past several months. Your kindness has provided tremendous comfort. If it is true that “It is not the years in your life that count; but the life in your years” (Abraham Lincoln), then our John lived well beyond his too few years.
