It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Alexander 'Sandy' MacLeod in Hope, B.C. on Feb. 6, 2015, after a brief illness.
Born on May 26, 1943, he was the son of the late William and Catherine MacLeod, Glace Bay.
Sandy joined the Canadian Navy at a young age and in later years was employed by B.C. Housing, Vancouver. In 2006 he retired to Hope. We will all miss his storytelling and keen sense of humour.
Sandy is survived by his loving wife, Penny (McLuskie); daughters, Sandra (Jeff) Lambourne, Mahone Bay and Patricia (Jim) Lorraine, Truro, N.S.; five grandchildren; siblings, Doreen (Jim) Inch, Viola Morrison and Kenneth (Anne) MacLeod. He is also survived by his stepchildren, John McCann and Kaela Me-Ann McCann; one step-grandchild, and one step-great-grandchild.
His brother-in-law, Vincent Kachafanas, sister-in-law, Elaine (Doug) Bowering, several beloved nieces and nephews and a special cousin, Joan Pennell, will also remember him fondly.
Besides his parents, Sandy was predeceased by sister, Katherine Kachafanas and brother-in-law, Sheldon Morrison.
Cremation has taken place in Hope, B.C.
