It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Florence 'Flossie' Phillipo on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland on June 17,1930 she was the daughter of the late James and Elsie (LeJean) O'Brien.
Mom was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 126, Westmount.
Flossie is survived by her children, Brenda (Tommy) Hillier, Ontario, Karan (Stuart) Higdon, Edwardsville, Sharon (Ronnie) Mac Adam, Edmonton, Arlene (George) Postlethwaite, Westmount, David, Westmount her loving dog. Haley; her grandchildren, Jennifer Hillier (Mark), Jason (Natasha), Devin and Jessica Higdon, Lana Kehoe and Gregory (Allison) Mac Adam, Megan Postlethwaite (Shawn) and James (Amy) Postlethwaite, her precious great grandchildren, Anthony Higdon, Emma and Jacob Kehoe, Avery Mac Adam. She is also survived by her brothers, Donald, Ontario, James, Cape Cod, as well as her special friend, Sabrina.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John of 63 years; sister, Rita Jones and brother, Kenneth O'Brien, both of Ontario.
A special thanks to all the homecare workers who looked after mom during her illness.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at Mom's request.
A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2015 at Holy Rosary Parish, Westmount with Father Douglas Murphy officiating.
Interment to be held at a later date.
A reception to follow at the Westside Legion, Westmount.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the War Amps of Canada for her special great grandson, Avery.
