It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden death of our dear sister, Betty, who passed away at home on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015.
Born in Alder Point on Sept. 23, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Stricklen and Maydell (Thurbit) LeBlanc. Betty was a graduate of Riverview Rural High School and Cape Breton Business College. Prior to retirement, she was a loans officer at the Royal Bank of Canada, Sydney Mines.
Betty was a member of St. Anne’s parish, Alder Point, where she was a Eucharistic minister and member of the parish council. She put her heart and soul into organizing the annual St. Anne’s craft sale. Betty was an avid knitter; joyfully giving her creations to her family and friends. She looked forward to weekly visits with her cousin and good friend, Terrance Boudreau. She adored her dog, Lucky, who was her constant companion.
She is survived by her sisters, Brenda (Tom) Jeffries, Sydney Mines, Terry (Keith) Burton, Alder Point and brother, Bernie (Linda) LeBlanc, Ontario.
“Aunt Betty” will be missed by her niece, Lisa (Cecil) Snow and nephews, Chris and Brendan (Alison) Jeffries, Patrick (Maureen) and Wayne (Wanda) Reashore, Ryan (Vickie) and Justin LeBlanc, as well as four grandnieces and seven grandnephews.
Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her sister, Teresa Jean, in infancy, and her brother-in-law, Wayne Reashore.
Visitation for Betty LeBlanc will be held in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Sunday, March 1, 2015, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Alder Point, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating.
