Donald “Stuart” Montgomery, 73, of Paradise passed away at home on Friday, February 27, 2015. Born in Summerside, P.E.I., he was a son of Orell (Millar) Montgomery and the late Donald Stuart Montgomery. Stuart was very proud of his family. He took great joy in sharing their accomplishments and never forgot a birthday. He was a very generous soul and often helped others in his own quiet way. After graduating high school in Bridgetown he attended Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown. Upon returning to Bridgetown he sold insurance with his Uncle Kenneth and provided accounting services to many local businesses. In 1973 he established Bridgetown Equipment Ltd. which he operated for more than 40 years. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling. In later years he enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and could be often found tossing a ball from his chair in the garage for a special Jack Russell Terrier. Stuart is survived by his wife of 50 years Martha (nee Price); sons John (Cassy), Ottawa, William (Jeannie), Lequille, David, Paradise, and Kenneth (Katharine), Lakelands; sisters Florence (Jack) MacLean, Bridgetown, Christine (Al) Ronalds, Surrey, BC, Patricia Millar, Bideford, P.E.I., Anne (Perry) Neatby, South Granville, P.E.I., and Lola Montgomery, Coquitlam, B.C.; brothers Dr. Roy (Diane) Montgomery, Birch Hill, P.E.I., Kenneth (Betty) Montgomery, Port Hill, P.E.I., and Alex Montgomery, Surrey, B.C.; grandchildren Megan, Kate, Colin, Samantha, Amelia, Maggie, and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, and by request, there will be no visitation. A Masonic Lodge memorial service open to family, friends and members of the fraternity will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448, conducted by Evangeline Masonic Lodge #94. A reception will be held following the service. Private family interment will be held at a later date in the Round Hill Cemetery. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department or the Annapolis County Ground Search and Rescue.
