The family of Joseph Herman MacDonald, 93, regret to announce his passing on March 9, 2015 at St. Ann's Centre in Arichat.
The last surviving member of his immediate family he was born Sept. 17, 1921 in St. Peter's, N.S., the son of the late George and Agnes (Landry) Mac Donald. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with the Carleton York Regiment, and was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 47. He retired as a mechanic with the former Richmond District School Board.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Skinner); sons, Herman (Lucy Ann), Billy, Rene, George, Chuck; daughters, Jolene Larwick (Bill) Pam Martell (Junior) and Tammy MacDonald-Baxter (Gordie); 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Cora (Martell).
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the River Bourgeois Funeral Home, with mass to be held Friday, March 13 at 1 p.m. in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of one's choice.
The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Ann's Centre for their help and compassion during Dad's stay and illness.
