It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Eleanor (Conron) MacIsaac, regret to announce her sudden passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Monday, March 9, 2015.
Born in Glace Bay, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (O’Connell) Conron.
Eleanor was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She resided with her daughters, Lori and Vonnie in South Bar, happy and content until her final day, with the help of home care.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Arlene MacIsaac, Sydney, Vonnie MacIsaac, South Bar, Lori (Paul) MacLean, South Bar, Hattie (Barry) Bennett, Newfoundland and Donnine MacInnis, Halifax; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Gran-nan will be greatly missed by special great-granddaughters, Sydney and Paige, who visited almost every day to entertain her with hugs and kisses.
Besides her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Wilfred 'Bill'; sons, Ronald and Gerald MacIsaac; sisters, Betty Mason and Queenie Campbell and brothers, Andrew, Joseph and James.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church on Friday 10 a.m., with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating, assisted by Rev. Paul MacGillivary. Interment in St. Alphonsus at a later date.
We would like to thank the Cape Breton County Homemakers for the excellent care provided to our mother, the staff of the CBRH emergency room for their kindness during her final hours and also to Rev. Paul MacGillivary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stone Church Restoration Society, fondly remembered as Eleanor’s place of worship for many years.
