MILDRED SAMMS
August 21, 1937 – March 14, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mildred Samms (nee Short) announces her passing on Saturday March 14, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center at the age of 77 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Mildred was the daughter of the late Lewis and Mabel Short, she was also predeceased by her brother Eric, sister Margaret Drake, mother and father in law Pearl and Benjamin Samms, brother in laws; Robert Stewart, Lorenzo and Garland Samms. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her loving husband Frank of 58 years. Her children; Almon Samms Paradise NL, Marina (Perry) Lomond Houston Texas, Mary Ann Samms (Calvin) Botwood NL, Terry (Pauline) Samms Deer Lake NL, Darrell Samms (Wendy) Port aux Basques, Sheila Samms (Rajinder) Sarnia ON. Grandchildren; Charlene, Robert, Anthony, Alex, Alyson, Kaitlyn, Jennifer, Denise, Natasha, Rohaan, 7 great grandchildren, brother George (Alice) Short Port aux Basques, sisters; Blanche Stewart Dartmouth NS, Ellen (Aaron) Kearley Lower Sackville NS, Sheila (Wally) Skeard Port aux Basques. Brothers and sisters in law; Lawrence (Louise) Samms Fredericton NB, Maggie (Charles) Leamon Port aux Basques, Audrey (Leonard) Lomond Kamloops BC, Edgar (Sandra) Samms Richmond Hill ON, Taylor (Kay) Samms Woodville, Ralph Samms Toronto ON, Pauline Samms Port aux Basques, Valerie Collier Codroy and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation took place at East Haven Funeral Home on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services took place on Wednesday March 18, 2 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard, interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
