Emma Nickerson, 90, a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015.
Born in Malquish, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Mary Ann (MacDonald) Munroe.
Emma worked in the housekeeping department at the Cove Guest Home, from which she retired. After retirement, Emma enjoyed volunteering until the age of 80.
Surviving are her sons, Warren, Halifax, Barry (Ann), Sydney and Ivan (Theresa), Pt. Edward; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, special friend, Henry Roach, sister-in-law, Elsie Munroe and several nieces and nephews.
Emma was predeceased by her husband, Frank in 1984. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by sisters, Kate, Mary Jane and Mary Ann and brothers, Roddie and John Archie.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, March 25 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, March 26 at 11 a.m., with Mr. Gary Grant officiating. Interment in Zion Cemetery.
