Carole Spencer
SPENCER, CAROLE (nee HORAN)
April 9, 1936 – Moncton, New Brunswick
March 3, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Carole Spencer.
Mom, the daughter of the late Marie and Edward Horan, was born April 9, 1936 and grew up on the east coast where she developed a desire to care for others, as well as feasting on lobster and clams. Her aspirations lead her to a career in nursing where she met her late husband, Reg Spencer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Through Dad's work, Mom found herself in the Northwest Territories and eventually they settled in Calgary in 1968 where, together, they raised a family of five kids. Mom's greatest passions were reserved for her family, her cats and the sun. A perfect day would have her tanning by the water, cats in her lap and husband and children nearby.
Mom is survived by her four daughters, Patty (Judge Michael Dinkel), Debbie (Bill Yanez), Shari (Brent Stradeski), Caroline (Jan Cyganik), and her son Paul (Jacquie). She leaves behind three sisters, Bernice Boudreau (Val), Ann Richard (Albert), Connie Web (Milton) and seven grandchildren.
Carole was predeceased by her sisters Shirley Richard, Dorothy Dupuis and brother Ronald Horan.
The family would like to thank the staff at Tudor Manor in Okotoks and the nurses of Unit 58 at Calgary's South Health Campus for their amazing kindness, caring and empathy.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to your local SPCA to ensure more cats find a loving home.
