LAWRENCE, Lorenzo “Larry” – age 83, passed away peacefully at The Villa St. Joseph du Lac in Dayton on March 29, 2015. Born April 25, 1931 in Greenville, Yarmouth Co., N.S. he was one of 14 children of Alvin and Mabel (Tasco) Lawrence; 9 sons and 5 daughters. Larry was a member of the Greenville Baptist Church. He was a Master Corporal in the Army, serving 25 years including 3 tours of duty in Germany and one in Egypt. After retiring from the army in 1975 he drove a school bus for Yarmouth District School Board for 20 years. He is also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61, Yarmouth. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elsie Rosa, Greenville; sons, Oral Quincy (Pam), Montreal; Floyd Kool (Margaret), Brampton, ON; 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brothers, Leroy, Veterans Place, Yarmouth; Montclair, Sudbury; Oscar and Sheridan, both of Greenville; sister, Eunice, Halifax; brother-in-law, Sheldon (Linda), Toronto; and close family friend, Bessie Wesley in London, Ontario. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Sylvia, Alberta, Jaunita, Henrietta; brothers, Alvin Jr., Delacey, Raymond, Garfield; and mother-in-law, Beula Farmer. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held on Thursday, April 2 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 3 at 2 p.m., Rev Robert “Gates officiated. Interment will take place in Greenville Cemetery in the spring. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
