It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Mary O’Flaherty on April 1, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a brief illness.
Rita was born May 10, 1922 to the late William and Bridget ‘Bride’ (Bennett) Fewer of Sydney. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Rita is survived by her daughter-in-law, Eunice; granddaughters, Tracy (Donald), Christene; grandson, Tim (Jen); great-granddaughters Chelsey, Emma, Julie and great-grandson, Deven, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tim and son, Dennis; sisters, Evelyn, Bride, Mae, Margaret; brothers, Bill and Greg.
Rita was a life time member of St. Joseph’s CWL and enjoyed many summers at her bungalow in Islandview with her family.
At Rita’s request, there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A private burial at Resurrection Cemetery will take place at a later date.
