It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our mother, Ruth on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at age of 78. Mom passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by loving family, listening to her oldies music and comforted in the arms of her loving daughter.
Born in Waddens Cove, she was the daughter of the late Ardus and Mary Boutilier (Wadden).
She is survived by her children, Donnie (Sara), Georgina (Cory) and Clyde; grandchildren, Connor, Samantha, Donnie Jr., Clayton, Elizabeth, Corrie, Mikayla and Becca; sisters, Catherine, Dena, Doris and Gladys; sisters-in-law, Sylvia, Margie, Gwen and Betty. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Debbie (Greg), Donna (Tommy), Susan (Dave) and Jimmy (Lisa); also by great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Clayton Hayes, and her precious little girl, Emily Elizabeth Jones. She was also predeceased by brothers, Freddie, Hubert, Leonard, Freeman and sisters, Rosie, Violet and Freda and a brother and sister in infancy. She was also predeceased by her loving companion, Bandit.
Mom was a kind and loving soul, who would help anyone in need. She always had a ready smile or a hug if needed, and her door was open to anyone who needed comfort or a place to stay. To our mother, family was everything. Our only regret is that she couldn't see herself as we did — beautiful, kind, funny and a role model for the kind of mom one wishes they could be.
Mom loved country music, playing cards, her Ottawa Senators, her family, but most of all her grandchildren who were the joy of her life. Nanny spoiled her babies and loved every minute they spent together, usually eating junk food and watching television.
Mom always said that being a grandmother was her reward for putting up with us, and she was probably right.
Visitation for the late Ruth Jones will be held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, on Wednesday, April 15, from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 17, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Glace Bay, with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Burial will take place at Black Brook Cemetery, Port Morien at a later date.
The family would like to thank New Waterford Homecare, ICU nursing staff and Dr. Ansari for their kindness and compassion to our mother in her last days.
