Diane Mitchell (nee MacPhail)

Date de décès : 15 avril 2015

With hearts so full of sorrow, beyond what mere words can express we the family of Diane announce the passing of our dearest wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, after a brief, but very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Simcoe ON, she was brought up in Catalone, near Louisbourg, in Cape Breton, and attended school in Catalone, Albert Bridge, Riverview Rural High, and later Cape Breton Regional Vocational, where she graduated with a diploma in Retail Management.
A devoted mother, grandmother, loyal friend and animal lover, she was also an active member of the Armdale Yacht Club, as well as various volunteer groups, and organizations, too many to mention here. A former model for women’s fashions she was also an avid gardener, who lived life to the maximum with everything it had to offer and totally enjoyed spending time with close friends and family. She traveled extensively to many exotic locations from Hawaii to Alaska throughought Europe as well as winters in Florida, a highlight was taking the Concord from New York, to Paris, and then on to Nice and Monte Carlo. She certainly enjoyed life to the fullest.
Left to mourn are her husband Jim, Beaverbank; sons James (Kristin), Hampton NB, Adam, Edmonton, AB; along with grandchildren Jasper, Lauren, and Daniel. Also left to mourn are her brothers Roy, Marion Bridge, Gary (Eileen), Porters Lake; and sisters Margaret, Nanoose Bay, BC, Rita, Upper Musquodoboit; along with nieces and nephews Philip, Sarah, Kathleen, Alexander, Troy, Roxanne, and great niece Jessica.
She was predeceased by parents Philip and Viola MacPhail; father and mother–in-law, James and Jessie Mitchell; and sister-in-law Judith Poisson. She will be dearly missed by her many friends as well as her beloved dog Shiloh.
We wish to thank the doctors, staff, and in particular to nurses of 5A Centennial Building Victoria General Hospital, for their care, kindness and compassion, during her recent stay. A warm and heartfelt thank you goes out to the two pharmacists, Patti and Gillian of Beaverbank Guardian Pharmacy as well during this difficult time.
Cremation has already taken place, a celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Sackville Kinsmen Center, 71 First Lake Dr, Lower Sackville, at 7 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation, www.pancreaticcancercanada.ca.
Until we meet again
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant Funeral Home.
