MacKENNEY, EFFIE
Effie M. MacKenney, age 93, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in Glasgow Hall on April 17, 2015 with her loving family at her side. Born in Harcourt, NB on January 18, 1922; she was the daughter of the late John and Annie (Nuttall) Wellwood.
Effie worked as a registered nurse in Moncton and Saint John until her retirement. She was known for her quick wit and loved to play cards, continuing to do so even through failing eye sight and memory. She had enjoyed a number of trips including Barbados, Las Vegas, Florida, and all across Canada.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Carl, and six siblings.
She is survived by her sister Nellie Fillmore of Stoney Creek, ON; daughters Dawn (Robert MacLean) of Halifax and Ann of Dartmouth; son Glen of Saint John; grandsons Jeff (Krystle) and Craig (Mary Ellen) MacLean; and four MacLean great-granddaughters Taylor, Sydney, Kendall and Samantha.
In keeping with Effie’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service, except for a quiet family memorial in NB at a later date.
