It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we, the family of Theresa Boutilier, age 87, formerly of Reserve Mines, announce her passing. Theresa passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015, at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay where she has been a resident for several years, with her loving and caring family by her side.
Born in Glace Bay, Theresa was the daughter of the late Murdock and Florence (MacLean) MacKinnon.
Theresa was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines and a member of the CWL. While at St. Joseph's Church she was a housekeeper for Fr. Francis Cameron and Fr. Ray Huntley for many years. She also was a Eucuristic minister. She was a founding member of the nursery school in Reserve Mines. Family and church were everything to Theresa.
Theresa will be sadly missed by her loving children, Florence Farrell, Dartmouth, Jerry (Moira), Antigonish, Albert (Ruth), Reserve Mines, Vinie (Duane) Browner, Boston, Ross, Sydney; sister, Dolores Logan, Ont.; brothers, Leo (Greta) MacKinnon, Walter (Jean) MacKinnon, both of New York, Albert (Marg), Sydney Forks; loving niece, Dolores and nephew, Will; sisters-in-law, Jenny Doyle and Kay Boutilier. Also surviving are cherished grandchildren, Brendan, Aileen, Angela, Nicholas, Candace, Michael, Stephen and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jack, Graclyn and Finn.
Besides her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Ross, brothers, Joe MacKinnon and Scottie MacLean.
Visitation for Theresa will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Curry's Glace Bay Funeral Home, 775 Main St. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines with Fr. Dan Boudreau officiating. A luncheon will follow the mass in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery.
Family flowers only please. Donations in Theresa's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
