Edna Thoring
Date de décès : 1er mai 2015
Edna Lois Marjorie Thoring was born on September 11, 1933 at the Frontier Municipal Hospital to Helmer and Ella Holmgren; a sister to Edgar. Edna passed away suddenly on May 1, 2015 at the Shaunavon Hospital & Care Centre with family by her side.
She received her education at Oak Plain, Loomis and Frontier. She graduated from Teacher’s College in Moose Jaw in 1953 and returned to Frontier to teach grades 3 & 4 in Frontier for one year. Then she went to work for the R.M. of Frontier and the Credit Union for a number of years. She married Clifford Henry Thoring on June 8, 1955 at Turner, Montana. A son, Clare Mervin, was born in 1957 and a daughter, Loreen Edna, in 1959. They farmed near Loomis, but lived in Frontier until 1966 when they built their house on the farm. She loved working in the yard, spending many hours gardening. In 2014 they moved to Frontier. Edna was an avid sports fan. She loved to play ball and curl and was an eager spectator when her husband played. Many summers were highlighted by curling in Nelson, B.C. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her grandkids in school sports, ball, hockey, and figure skating. God was at the centre of her life and her deep faith was a tangible thing. Her involvement in the Elim & Bethel Lutheran Churches played an intergral part in her life. She had a servant’s heart; always ready to lend a helping hand. Her sweet and gentle spirit had no room to find fault in others. She found good in everyone and she touched so many lives.
Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye; Clay, Cady, Cody, Malory and Hailey. Then in the last two and half years, came four precious great grandchildren; Timo, Teaghan, Charlotte and Etta.
She was predeceased by her brother Edgar in 1958, her father in 1967 and her mother in 1985.
She leaves to mourn her husband of almost sixty years Clifford Thoring, her son Clare (Cathy) Thoring and grandchildren Clay Thoring (Julie) and Etta; Cadence Gfeller (Kurt) and Timo all of Frontier; Cody Thoring (Julie) and Charlotte of Regina, Saskatchewan; her daughter Loreen (Ernie) Coakley of Frontier and grandchildren Malory Meyers (Jason) and Teaghan of Milestone, Saskatchewan, Hailey Coakley of Frontier; her sisters-in-law Frances Anderson of Frontier, Olive Thoring of Gainsborough, Saskatchewan and Marion Braaten of High River, Alberta as well as by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held on May 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from Bethel Lutheran Church in Frontier with David Anderson officiating. The Eulogy was presented by her grandchildren Clay, Cady, Cody, Malory and Hailey. Special music was provided by Rod, Chase, and Brooks Thoring and Duane and Connie Barsness. The organist was Magna Norheim. Interment took place at Frontier Municipal Cemetery at Frontier. Binkley’s Funeral Service (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Trevor Anderson, Ray Thoring, Grant Braaten, Gerry Evenson, Ward Thoring and Alan Lutz.
