Wilfred Heisler

HEISLER, Wilfred Edward
Wilf (Bill) passed away peacefully in his sleep at Samaritan Place in Saskatoon on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the age of 88 years. Wilf was born in Allan, SK, 1 of 11 children to John and Julia Heisler. The family moved to Mildred in June of 1932. Wilf was raised in a farming family, however, at a young age, Wilf and his twin brother, Alf, showed a keen interest in carpentry. This became Wilf's passion and career. He also was an accomplished logger, rancher and village blacksmith. In 1952, Wilf met a young school teacher, the love of his life, Annette Lutz and they were married on August 3, 1953. They spent most of their working life in Prince Albert raising 6 children before retiring to Emma Lake in 1986. Wilf and Annette then converted the cabin to a year round home, where they spent 22 happy and healthy years together. They started spending winters “down south” (Saskatoon) in 2008. Wilf will be lovingly remembered by his children Timothy (Sue), Donald (Sassy), Rodney, Patrice (Murray), Kathleen (Ken) and Bradley; grandchildren Matthew (Amanda), Adam (Nadia), Kristen (Marc), Katie (Jeremy), Kalyn (Evan), Paola, Zahra, Austin, Anisha and Clare; great-grandchildren Sam, Jaxson, Max, Weston, Abigail, Josephine and Sophia; siblings Alf (Jean) and Sr. Juliana Heisler; sisters-in-law Evelyn, Anita, Ann and Eva; brothers-in-law Ozzie (Lorna), Herb and John; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Wilf was predeceased by his loving wife, Annette, his parents, brothers and sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Wilf's family, faith, friendships, career and volunteering shaped his life and were very dear to him. He enjoyed spending many years at Emma Lake with his family, playing cards, curling, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, boating, golfing, campfires and sing-songs. Wilf and Annette travelled across Canada, United States, Mexico, Cuba, a 9 month trip to Europe in their motorhome (with a quick flight to Egypt and Israel), an Alaskan tour and many fishing trips in northern Saskatchewan. Memorial donations in Wilf's name may be made to the Parkinson Society Saskatchewan (610 Duchess Street, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2T4) or to a charity of one's choice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church (114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon). Interment of cremated remains will take place on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens, Gethsemane and Sermon on the Mount. Wilf will be missed dearly. Family and friends may send online condolences from www.hillcrestmemorial.ca Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Charmaine Menard.
