The family of Valerie Gouthro sadly announces her passing on May 12, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford to Rita (Flutur) and the late Eldridge Gouthro, Valerie enjoyed a long and successful career with the Federal Civil Service in Toronto, retiring to Cape Breton in 2010.
Along with her mother, she is survived by her sister Darla (Mel) Brown, Boularderie and brother Eldy (Pamela) of Ottawa.
The family is very grateful to the doctors, nurses and support staff for the compassion and excellent care extended to Valerie during her lengthy stay at the Regional Hospital.
In keeping with Valerie's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
