It is with heartfelt sadness that we the family announce the passing of Donald Keith 'Don' McVicar, on May 16, 2015 at the Glace Bay Hospital with loving family at his side.
Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Gilford and Winnfred (Russell) McVicar.
Before Don’s retirement he worked as an Ice Maker at the Baddeck Form and for many years as a Painter/Drywaller.
Don is survived by his wife Joan Osmond; daughter Audrey (Rob) Mitchell; sons; Russell (Sheila), Donnie (Vera); stepdaughters, Kerri (Todd) Detcheverry, Neala (Robbie) Osmond; sister Sylvia (Gerald) Murrin; brother Gilford McVicar; grandchildren Johnathan, Jacqueline and Rebecca; great-granddaughters Ruby and Madison; step-grandchildren, Carter, Cailyn, Callum, Dylan, Lara and Merrill.
Besides parents he was predeceased by brother Joe; sisters Audrey and Doreen, and a grandson Matthew.
Visitation for Don will be held on Thursday May 21, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St, Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Friday May 22 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church Glace Bay with Rev. Vernon Reid Officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Donations may be made to Palliative Care, the Alzheimer Society or a charity of ones choice.
