Born in Cardston, Alberta, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Eversfield) Hartling. Kay was employed by Maritime Telegraph and Telephone for 30 years in the Purchasing Department until she retired. She was an avid curler and that was where she met her future husband. She was an enthusiastic gardener and was an active member of the Shelburne County Garden Club. She was a member of the Lower Ohio Union Church and worked towards its well-being. Kay is survived by her husband of 44 years, Donald C. Bower, Lower Ohio. Her late father has three surviving siblings, Janet Andrews, Lanesville, Nova Scotia, Ellen Crowe, Stewiacke and Bill Hartling, Kingston, Ontario.
