It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our aunt Rita Shaheen, age 90, on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Salem and Sophie (Shaheen) Joseph.
Rita was a woman of strong faith and a member of the CWL at St. Anthony Daniel parish.
When she was well, she always enjoyed going on little excursions, combining that with a meal in a nice restaurant with her friends. Rita worked as secretary in the mayor's office for over 40 years.
Rita is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ike; her sisters, Rosie and Alice and her brothers, Mosie, Joe and Fred.
Her niece June would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Cove Guest Home for the most wonderful care and compassion you could ever have.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Shaheen will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Rev. Bill Burke officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
