The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Garden Home, Charlottetown, on Monday, May 25, 2015 of James Howard Thomas, aged 93 years, formerly of O'Leary.
Born March 20, 1922 in Cascumpec, son of the late John and Jennie (Rayner) Thomas. Dear father to Rhonda (Adair) Shaw, Cascumpec, and Shelley (Grant) Canfield, Clyde River. Loving grandfather to Samantha (Jamie) Veniot, Unionvale; Blayre (Josh) Caplan, Cornwall; Ben (Laura) Canfield, Victoria, B.C.; Hannah (Colin) Burnett, Burlington, ON; and Josiah Canfield, Burlington, ON; and great-grandchildren, Vivienne, Simon and Isaiah Caplan. Howard is survived by brothers, Harry (Grace) Thomas and Ellsworth (Leila) Thomas, and sisters-in-law, Audrey Leard, O'Leary, and Marion Darrach, Charlottetown. Predeceased by his parents; first wife, Doris Leard Thomas; second wife, Julia Douglas Thomas.
Resting at the Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O'Leary, with visiting hours on Thursday, May 28, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held on Friday in the chapel 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Cascumpec United Cemetery.
